With each opportunity that closes, new opportunities are opening before you. Sometimes, they just aren't the ones you may be looking for. They are out there nonetheless.
Moving forward can be difficult. Sometimes we are caught, even absorbed, in a person, a job, a circumstance that when things change we are caught off guard or totally unprepared. Now what? I wasn't ready for this.
If you haven't noticed, Time is a relentless drill sergeant, never missing a step and marching forward at a steady pace, never waivering. He and the world move forward when we so desperately want to hit rewind at times. Rewind we can't. Move forward we must. Maturity happens when you become more adept at moving forward with life no matter how much on the inside you want things to stay the same or go back. You have to realize the door has closed. It is now behind you. Time to move forward.
So, here's my recommendation. (This is for me too, by the way.) Move forward. Take the first step. Be grateful for what you had when you had it. No one is promised tomorrow, only today. Be grateful for today. Be grateful that you may see tomorrow. Look for the opportunity and promise that God has provided you this day. Realize that sometimes He has prepared things for you that are so wonderful that you would not have seen them if you had remained stuck in what you so desperately wanted to stay stuck in. Seize the day and the opportunities it holds.
Are you ready? Take a deep breath. Raise one foot off the floor and put it down 12 inches forward. Exhale. Repeat.
