Eye of the Tiger - Get It Back

When I was growing up, I used to love watching "Rocky" movies. They were both entertaining and in different ways inspiring. My all time favorite is "Rocky III". Clubber Lang vs. Rocky Balboa. For those of you who remember, our hero Rocky had become the world champion in boxing and got consumed with glory, left his passion behind and ended up getting walloped by Clubber Lang and losing his title. Rocky became a shell of his former self and he had to get his hunger back. He had to get himself back. He needed to find "The Eye Of The Tiger".

Personally, I feel like life has given me a Clubber Lang beatdown. There have been many days in the last few years where I have felt like an empty husk - feelings of inadequacy, guilt, inability. I have felt like maybe my best days are behind me and I will go on just "making it". Not very inspiring, is it? Friends, much like Rocky Balboa, I have lost "The Eye Of The Tiger" and it's time I get it back. If you have been beaten down, my friend, it's time YOU get it back too.

Life offers us no guarantees that we will win every battle, every fight. We are not promised an easy road with no challenges, problems or worries. Has anyone really ever lived a glorious life without ever having done anything glorious? I think not. Have there ever been any victors or champions that have walked the earth that have not overcome adversity, fought battles, and overcome? No.

There is no easy road. That's the first thing you must accept. Secondly, how I travel my path and how you travel yours is up to us. Life does beat us down. The issue is not if life is going to beat us down, but when. Life beats you down. It beats you down and it can keep you down - if you let it. You can walk around being a shell of your best self. The person who never gains anything because you never attempt anything. You won't try because you may fail. You may be defeated. If that's your attitude, friend, you've already been defeated. When I feel this way, I have too.

I need it. You need it. We need "The Eye Of The Tiger". I need to be hungry on the inside. I need to be full of fight. When I get knocked down, I need to know I'm going to get back up before I need to get back up. Sometimes I need the help of God. Sometimes I need the help of friends. Sometimes I just need to use what God has given me. I need to rediscover my passion, my drive, my work ethic. I need to be revived on the inside and out. I have to want it. I have to need it.

Eye of the Tiger, Man!
